Survival at Sea

This puzzel was introduced to us to prioritize 15 item's given to us when we are trapped in the Atlantic ocean with the only thing given to us is a lifeboat and the 15 items, 10 of which we can actually use.

I personally listed them in this order:
1. 25 L of water- in order to survive the most important thing needed is water to drink.
2. A case of army rations- 24 packets that also include matches... food and warmth.
3. A small transistor radio- allowing contact for anywhere in the world.
4. Shaving Mirror- reflection allows for signaling.
5. Shark repelant- just in case the sharks get a bit too hungry.
6. Floating sea cushion- in case this one breaks and repairs.
7. A fishing kit- for when foor rations run out.
8. 20 sqaure feet plastic sheeting- warmth and signaling.
9. 160% rum- dissinfectant
10. mosquito netting used to catch fish if fishing kit breaks.
11. 2 boxes of chocolate- yyuuummm! foolish but it will be enjoyable.
12. 15ft nylon rope- allows fishing net to sink deeper
13. 10 L oil/petrol mixture- can't wait any longer(suicide).
14. sextant- useless with bad map.
15. Maps of Pacific Ocean- we're in the Atlantic

Group:
1. Water-human body cant survive long without it
2. Army rations- fooood!
3. fishing kit- more food.
4. 20 square feet plastic sheeting- warmth and signaling.
5. 15 ft nylong rope- repairs.; allows to drop fishing(mosquito) net lower.
6. Shaving mirror- signaling.
7. mosquito netting- used to capture fish
8. 160% rum- dissinfectant.
9. transistor radio- contact people for rescue
10. floating sea cushion- repairs and in case this one breaks.
11. 10 L oil/petrol mixture- if worse comes to worse.
12. shark repellant- if sharks get too hungary... REPEL!
13. 2 boxes of chocolates- some delight is needed while stuck at sea.
14. Maps of Pacific- Wrong Ocean! hahaha
15. sextant- worthless with bad map.

Both personally and my groups decisions were not that close to the official coast gaurds list of neccesities. However adults do need more things than do teenage highschool boys.
